Nearly two minutes of footage from what appears to be a remake of the original Persona has leaked online.
The clip, which apparently gives the remake the subtitle Be Your True Mind, was shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit. It was uploaded to the file sharing site Gofile on October 31 under a Japanese file name which translates to “Megami Ibunroku Persona Remake”.

Interestingly, the images look very similar to Atlus’ more recent entries. It features sleek menus and a brief overview of combat that feels a lot like Persona 5 and Persona 3 Reload. There’s also a short social bond cutscene in a noticeably different, almost graphic art style.
Fans scrolling through the clip believe they’ve spotted several details that lend it credibility. These include what looks like Unreal Engine debug text in the upper left corner during battle (Atlus switched to Unreal Engine for Persona 3 Reload), a new remix of the Pandora theme from the original PlayStation game, and the protagonist being called “Boy With Earring”, which is what he is named in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.
Atlus hasn’t announced a Persona 1 remake, and we can’t verify the footage, so treat all of this with the usual caveats.
How to fix a problem like Persona 4? At Gamescom, we sat down with series director Kazuhisa Wada to talk about the Persona 4 remake and ask him how Atlus is approaching the original text for the remake.
