The Cardinals’ dominance over the Cowboys is one of the NFL’s biggest mysteries.
Arizona recovered from a 17-3 deficit after replacing Jacoby Brissett with Gardner Minshew, who led them to a 33-30 overtime victory. The Cardinals are 5-0 all-time at AT&T Stadium and have won nine of the last 10 games in the series.
Both teams are 3-5.
The Cowboys still haven’t won back-to-back games since last November, and they’ll leave the stadium Sunday knowing they gave one away.
The Cardinals lost left tackle Jayden Williams (knee), running back Jeremiyah Love (ankle), running back Bam Knight (concussion) and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (ankle). Wide receiver Reggie Virgil was injured when he slammed into the goal post with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter.
Minshew replaced Brissett with 1:35 left in the third quarter, and he led them to four touchdowns on his first four drives. His 13-yard touchdown to Michael Wilson tied the game 30-30 with 6 seconds left in the fourth quarter, but Chad Ryland missed his first extra point since 2024.
This sent the game into overtime, and neither team scored on their first possession. The Cardinals drove 44 yards in eight plays on their second overtime possession, and Ryland redeemed himself with a game-winning 42-yarder.
The Cardinals outscored the Cowboys 467 to 261, with Minshew going 17 of 23 for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Tyler Allgeier, the only healthy running back available for the Cardinals after the departures of Love and Knight, had 11 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown. He also caught five passes for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Wilson had eight catches for 111 yards and a touchdown, and tight end Trey McBride added seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Dak Prescott was 19 of 29 for 195 yards and a touchdown, with CeeDee Lamb catching seven passes for 58 yards. Javonte Williams ran for 56 yards on 24 carries.
The Cowboys had a chance to put the game away with 2:07 left in the fourth quarter, but they couldn’t run out the clock and didn’t score a touchdown. Brandon Aubrey kicked a 41-yard field goal with 1:09 left, leaving plenty of time for Minshew, who is a good bet to win NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
