It’s completely unacceptable that this is taking place in Dallas, and we’re going to do everything we need to do to bring everyone responsible for this into custody.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux
At least four people were killed and 15 others injured in three separate shootings in Dallas’ Deep Ellum entertainment district Saturday night, according to Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux.
Comeaux confirmed Sunday morning that investigators were working at three locations following the Halloween night shooting that took place between midnight and 1:30 a.m. early Sunday. Police have not determined whether the incidents are related.
“Detectives and officers are still trying to piece everything together to understand exactly what happened at each scene and see if anything is connected,” Comeaux said. “At the moment we have no information that they are related, but we are still investigating to try to figure it out.”
Our partners at the Dallas Morning News reported that four people were killed in two locations, while at least six others were injured in a third.
Police have not released details about what led to the shooting or publicly identified any suspects.

Where did the Deep Ellum shooting occur?
Dallas police confirmed officers responded to the first shooting call around 12:19 a.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of Elm Street. A second shooting was reported shortly after 1 a.m. in the 2600 block of Main Street, about a block south of the first location. A third shooting was reported in Deep Ellum around 1:35 a.m. along the 200 block of Crowdus Street, about two blocks east of the other locations.
Dallas police also reported a shooting call around 3:30 a.m. along South Ervay Street outside the Deep Ellum neighborhood.
Comeaux declined to provide the exact addresses of the filming scenes, but confirmed that all three incidents occurred in Deep Ellum.
Police question at least one person in connection with shooting
Comeaux said officers have arrested at least one person in connection with one of the incidents and investigators are interviewing people in custody and witnesses to determine what happened.
“We’re currently interviewing some people that we’ve arrested, still trying to figure out exactly what connection this has to … all the shootings here,” Comeaux said.
Police have not publicly identified anyone in custody or announced any formal arrests in the investigation.

Police chief praises police response to Halloween celebrations
Comeaux said Dallas police increased their presence in the Deep Ellum entertainment district Saturday night in anticipation of Halloween crowds. He praised police officers for their quick response to the shooting, saying one officer provided lifesaving care to an injured person and was able to resuscitate them.
“We had a full complement here. We had a lot of officers. There was a lot of response here,” Comeaux said. “We looked at the plan. We knew it was Saturday night. We knew it was Halloween, so we had the proper staffing.”
The chief said an officer told him they were less than two blocks away when they heard gunshots and immediately ran to the scene.
“I mean, these are the things that contribute to continued chaos. When you have that presence and officers are on scene that quickly,” Comeaux said.
Dallas police ask public for video of Deep Ellum shooting
As the investigation continues, Comeaux urged anyone who was in Deep Ellum overnight and may have recorded video or taken photos to share that material with Dallas police. He said investigators were already receiving information but needed additional evidence to help establish what happened at each location.
“We’re really asking the public, if you have video, if you have photos, anything from social media, anything, please reach out to us so we can try to piece it all together and do some justice here,” Comeaux said. “We need all the video you have. If you have something, even if you don’t think it might show anything, you never know. We’re already getting information, and so we need to confirm some of that information. And I’m pretty sure someone has captured the appropriate video footage that can help us.”
