Nicholson, 89, is rarely seen in public and was last credited in the 2010 film “How Do You Know.”

“I think a lot of celebrities came just out of curiosity, and others used it as their personal country club,” she said.
“They used to call it Jack Nicholson’s drive-thru at one time because he would drive up, grab some food or whatever he could get there and drive away.”
Nicholson’s daughter Lorraine once shared her own experiences at the famous mansion where she spent her childhood playing with Hef’s sons Marston and Cooper.
“People assume my father took me to the Manor, but they are wrong,” she wrote in a 2024 essay for Vanity Fair. “In fact, I can confidently say that I spent more time there than my father.”

Lorraine wrote about her childhood as the daughter of somewhat controversial parents and noted that her friend’s parents were “not very keen on letting their children come to Jack Nicholson”.
“For the Hefners, I imagine it was nice to know that my father would never be like other fathers, lingering a little too long after their children had been dropped off, marveling, open-mouthed and fully dressed, at the way the refracted light danced on the roof of the cave,” Lorraine wrote.

Crystal also admitted that her late husband was obsessed with Hollywood lore and fame.
“One thing that mattered most to Hef was fame,” she explained.
“Any celebrity was treated extremely well every time they visited. He had Bill Maher to chat, hung out with Berry Gordy from Motown and then you saw a lot of other people there. Buzz Aldrin, the original Catwoman.”

Crystal started dating Hefner when she was 21. The couple got engaged in 2010, when she was 24 and the Playboy founder was 84.
They called off their wedding just days before the ceremony in 2011, but later reconciled. Crystal and Hefner married in 2012 and remained together until his death in 2017. He was 91 years old.

She explained that during Hef’s “final years” she did her best to “treat him with respect and dignity.”
Crystal wanted the media mogul to “always feel respected and revered until the very end.”
“The entire mansion existed to accommodate Hef’s needs, including the women,” she said. “He would cry during romantic scenes in old movies and just look at me to help him. Or maybe it was a performance to encourage me to believe his feelings were real.”
