Lions shaken after All-Pro linebacker Jack Campbell hospitalized with ‘scary’ neck injury | Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell suffered a neck injury and was transported to a local hospital after being injured during the fourth quarter of his team’s 19-15 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

“Thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said after the game. “He is in care. We have no new information. We will keep you informed of the progress of this case. But we are thinking of him. We are thinking of him.”

The Lions later said Campbell would remain in the hospital overnight.

“Jack Campbell is resting and will remain at a local hospital this evening for continued evaluation and monitoring,” the Lions said in a statement. “The team will provide further updates as we have them.”

Jack Campbell, a first-team All-Pro last season, was injured while confronting Vikings tight end TJ Hockenson in the fourth quarter.

The 26-year-old remained motionless facing the ground and was surrounded by medical staff for nine minutes while strapped to a board. He did not wave to the crowd at Ford ‌Field as he was led on a trolley toward the tunnel.

“He’s breathing, he’s alert when he’s gone,” Dan Campbell told the Lions Radio Network.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff was shaken as he observed the situation.

“Jack’s deal was really scary,” Goff said. “It brings you back to reality for a moment: He’s a husband and father. Scary. We’re praying for him and hoping he’ll be okay. If anyone is strong enough to go through something like this, it’ll be him.”

Campbell, a fourth-year pro, was credited with three tackles before his injury. He has 57 this season after a career-high 176 last season. The Lions selected him in the first round of the 2023 draft.
