Suki Waterhouse makes rare comment on her ‘disastrous’ relationship with Bradley Cooper

Suki Waterhouse has appeared to open up about her “disastrous” relationship with Bradley Cooper for the first time in years.

The model, who did not name the actor in conversation with The Sunday Times this weekend, said she was “surprised” at how “happy” she was with her now partner Robert Pattison, as she had only “dated someone for two years” before him.

“If it had lasted two years, it would have been a disaster in the end,” the 34-year-old said.

Waterhouse, who dated Cooper between 2013 and 2015, reflected on past romances from her “younger” years.

“When you’re younger, you approach everything blindly and you don’t think about the consequences, including maybe relationships,” she recalls. “You don’t really have any idea of the repercussions of being in things that are public and might be difficult to (navigate).”

Waterhouse and the Golden Globe nominee, notably, had a 17-year age gap that made headlines and sparked discussion since she was 21 and he was 38.

She recalls isolating herself at home after a past heartbreak – apparently her split from Cooper – and deciding it was time to leave her “stifling” modeling career.

“I started thinking, ‘I have to find a way out of here or I’m going to drown,'” the “Daisy Jones & the Six” alum recalled, noting that she felt “pretty depressed” but was “channeling that” into her songwriting.

As for what she learned from her exes, Waterhouse said, “You can have a private life and a public life at the same time. I know that now.”

Cooper’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Waterhouse last commented on her “disorienting” split from Cooper in an interview with British Vogue in 2024, saying: “When something very public happens to you and the story behind it is dark and difficult, and you’re not doing well and you can’t explain yourself to the world, it’s very isolating. »

She has been in a relationship with Pattinson, 40, since 2018, with the duo sparking engagement rumors in late 2023.

The couple shares a 2-year-old daughter, whose name they have not yet shared.

Waterhouse gushed on Sunday about her “beautiful” relationship with Pattinson, noting: “It’s quite difficult to make something work when you’re both doing this kind of work and you don’t live in the same place and you travel a lot.” »

She revealed their wedding plans were on hold for the year, dispelling secret wedding rumors and making it clear they would go “all or nothing” for their future nuptials.

“If we had to go, we would have a big party and everything would blow up,” she said.

Waterhouse’s previous romances, in addition to Cooper, include musician Miles Kane from 2011 to 2013 and actor Diego Luna from 2015 to 2017.

Cooper, for his part, has been dating Gigi Hadid since 2023 after a four-year relationship with Irina Shayk that resulted in the birth of his daughter Lea De Seine, now 9 years old.
