Trump awards medals to Musk, Dell and Nadella at science summit

President Donald Trump will present medals to a number of high-profile tech executives, including Elon Musk and Michael Dell, at a science summit on Thursday, CNBC has confirmed.

Musk, who leads EspaceX And Teslareceived the National Medal of Science, as did Google co-founder Sergei Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Advanced microdevices CEO Lisa Su, according to the White House. Dell And Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will receive the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.

The event is called Science: A New Golden Age. Fox News was the first to report it.

“The Trump Administration is grateful for the contributions of these incredible leaders in science and technology,” White House deputy press secretary Liz Huston said in an emailed statement. “These recipients help ensure that America remains at the forefront of the world in innovation.”

The summit comes just over a week after Trump hosted a White House luncheon focused on artificial intelligence, attended by several of those executives and many others in the industry. Trump told reporters after the rally that he had signed a “morally binding” document with tech leaders, as calls to slow the development of AI models reached a fever pitch.

Each of the honorees at Thursday’s summit has contributed financially, in some capacity, to the campaigns and causes of President Trump or the Republicans.

Musk was Trump’s largest donor in the 2024 election cycle, contributing more than $290 million, and then led an effort to reduce the federal workforce as a special employee of the Trump administration.

Brin attended Trump’s inauguration and contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Republican National Committee in 2025. Huang donated to a fund to build Trump’s ballroom at the White House, and Nvidia contributed $1 million to Trump’s inauguration ceremony.

Dell is a longtime Trump donor. With his wife Susan, he committed $6.25 billion to create Trump accounts intended to boost children’s savings in the United States. AMD also contributes to Trump funds.

According to his most recent disclosure, Trump bought or sold shares of SpaceX, Tesla, Nvidia, Microsoft, AMD and Google parent Alphabet as recently as July.
