DWTS Season 35 Disney Night Week 8 Recap: Scores, Elimination

(This story contains spoilers for episode nine of Dancing with the stars season 35.)

It’s time for Disney Night Dancing with the stars.

This year’s Disney-themed episode featured a new twist on Broadway, with “performances inspired by Disney’s beloved stories and their iconic stage adaptations,” according to ABC. The couples paid homage to the classics of Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Tangled, Beauty and the Beast and many more.

Tuesday night’s episode also saw the return of team dances, as co-hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough each joined one of the group’s performances. Cynthia Erivo was also in the ballroom, serving as the evening’s guest judge.

Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa were eliminated at the end of DWTS Disney evening. Earlier in the episode, they danced a paso doble for Hamilton“Satisfied” and received a score of 33/40.

Celebrities still competing in season 35 include Tatyana Ali, Jenna Dewan, Ezra Frech, Amber Glenn, Maura Higgins, Harry Shum Jr. and Connor Wood.

After the first dance on Disney Night, Hough announced that the couple who topped the leaderboard after individual performances would receive immunity for next week’s prom. The couple who quickly took first place were Harry and Jenna Johnson, who scored a perfect 40/40 for their jazz on “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” by Marry Poppins.

Harry and Jenna achieved the first perfect score of DWTS season 35 last week, with Disney Night scoring its second consecutive 40/40.

However, they didn’t stay alone at the top of the Disney Night leaderboard for long, as Jenna and Val Chmerkovskiy also earned a 40/40 for their rapid rise to Beauty and the Beast“Be Our Guest” by .

Since two couples were tied at the top of the leaderboard, immunity for next week’s dance was awarded to the couple with the highest score total throughout the season; Harry and Jenna fell with a total of 236 (Jenna and Val had 235).

At last week’s Horror Movie Night, Jackson Olson and Tyler Cameron were kicked out of the competition in a double elimination.

The couple with the lowest combined total of judges’ scores and viewer votes is eliminated at the end of each DWTS episode. Each viewer is entitled to up to 10 votes per couple, per voting method (via the ABC website and by SMS).

Live voting takes place during each show’s East Coast broadcast and ends shortly after the final performance; This means that if you are a West Coast viewer and want to vote, you must do so between 5:00 PM PT and approximately 6:45 PM PT, as voting ends after the final performance.
