Packers coach Matt LaFleur provides update on Josh Jacobs after new allegations

Packers coach Matt LaFleur expects running back Josh Jacobs to remain on the roster after new abuse allegations against him came to light.

The three-time Pro Bowler missed six games this season while on the commissioner’s exempt list following his arrest in May on three charges of domestic violence, strangulation and choking, and intimidation of a victim after an altercation with his then-girlfriend.

LaFleur began a news conference Monday with a statement about Jacobs after NBC26 in Green Bay reported Saturday that at least three women had contacted the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin with similar allegations against the 28-year-old All-Pro.

“We’re aware of the prior allegations about Josh and we’re going to allow the NFL to follow its process,” LaFleur said before Green Bay’s game against the Patriots in Week 9. “But I expect him to be a member of us in the future and that’s really all I have to talk about.”

La Fleur responded to a question from another journalist who said: “With Josh, you have supported him throughout this story. Has anything changed from what you have heard in recent days or are you still in the same state of mind with him?”

The coach responded, “Like I said, I’m not going to address that topic here right now. We’re just going to let the process play out.”

Added LaFleur: “I would expect Jacobs to be a part of the team as we go through everything.”

When asked why the Packers made this decision, LaFleur said, “Because we’re just going to let everything play out and obviously go from there.” »

Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of battery and criminal damage to property on Sept. 10 relating to the alleged incident with his ex-girlfriend.

On Friday, the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department released a redacted report of the department’s investigation into Jacobs’ alleged domestic violence incident on May 23, 2026 – which included accusations from three other women of alleged physical violence by Jacobs.

According to police records, three women have come forward since Jacobs’ arrest in May, with alleged incidents occurring in May 2022, January 2022 and April 2021.

The NFL said it was looking into the unpublished allegations against Jacobs.

Jacobs denied all of the new allegations in a lengthy statement from his lawyers on Sunday, calling the revelation a “defamation of character” that has an “unfair” impact on their client.

He was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list in August.

Jacobs returned in Week 7 and had 11 carries for 36 yards in Green Bay’s 20-17 loss to the Lions.

He scored twice in the Packers’ 27-19 win over the Panthers Thursday night at Lambeau Field, as their record improved to 5-3.

The Packers play the Patriots, also 5-3, on Sunday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
