Nicole Taylor of country music trio Taylor Red dies at 35

Nicole Taylor, a member of country music trio Taylor Red who was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago, has died, according to her sisters and bandmates.

She was 35 years old.

“We are shocked and heartbroken to announce the passing of our sister,” Nika Taylor and Natalie Taylor said in a social media post Monday. “She is at peace and no longer in pain, so we are grateful.”

Originally from Mississippi, the identical triplets began making music together in 2010 under the name Red Roots before renaming their group Taylor Red eight years later, eventually settling in Nashville, Tennessee.

The country music trio became extremely popular online after their song “Country Money” went viral on social media in 2021. A year later, Nicole Taylor was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

“I remember we were in a public place and she got a phone call from the nurse about her biopsy results,” Natalie Taylor said as part of a 10-minute social media video she made with Nika Taylor, opening up about their sister’s death. “And she said to me, ‘You have cancer.’ I remember being in total shock.

“If you know someone with cancer, you have to go through a lot of MRIs, scans, treatments and appointments, and it’s very stressful,” Nika Taylor said in the video.

Nicole Taylor’s cancer eventually progressed to stage 4, the sisters said.

According to the group’s website, Nicole Taylor died on September 28 and her family held a private funeral.

“Nicole told us shortly before she passed that she had peace, and we are truly grateful,” Natalie Taylor said.
