Alaska Voter Says He’ll Vote for Sen. Dan Sullivan: ‘I’ve Changed’

As Alaska’s Senate race generates headlines over an alleged Democratic-linked election scheme, Fox News spoke with voters heading to the polls Monday, including a man who said he was voting for Republican incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, although he had previously considered voting for the Democratic Senate candidate, former Rep. Mary Peltola.

The Senate race, which is a ranked-choice election, received significant national attention due to the inclusion of a candidate with nearly the same name as the incumbent Republican Party lawmaker.

The voter, who did not give his name, said he “thought it was unclear from the start.”

A New York Times report published last week detailed the alleged scam in which Democrats sought to recruit Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. to run in the race against incumbent Sen. Daniel S. Sullivan.

“When the New York Times article came out and I found out how it happened, I was disgusted by it all, so sordid,” the voter said.

A woman who was with the man in Alaska noted that he had “thought about voting for Mary Peltola.”

“I’ve changed,” he said.

The woman said she thought it was “unethical and I don’t think (Peltola) should be elected.”

The man accepted.

They both confirmed they would vote for Senator Dan S. Sullivan.

The Peltola campaign did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment Tuesday.

In a speech last week, Peltola denied any involvement in the alleged scheme.

“I didn’t know anything about the other candidates on the ballot except me and the incumbent. That’s all I ever knew,” Peltola said. “I’m not trying to mislead the voters. I know I can beat Dan Sullivan.”

Sen. Sullivan said during a speech Monday, “We all knew the Dan decoy was a fake, but we knew the extent of the corruption, the extent of the cheating.”

President Donald Trump is endorsing the senator in the race.

“Senator Dan S. Sullivan, the best senator in Alaska’s history and one of the best in the country, should run his Alaska senatorial race, ‘UNDER PROTEST,’ for the FRAUD that was committed against him by putting another Dan Sullivan on the ballot. Dan Sullivan vs. Dan Sullivan – How ridiculous is this? Thank you for your attention to this issue!” Trump posted to Truth Social Monday evening.
