Voters drive GOP from power

Voters forcefully rejected the president Donald Trump and Republicans, electing Democrats in GOP strongholds nationwide for the first time in decades and turning the GOP’s deepest fears into reality.

As generational losses piled up across the country and in deep red seats, Republicans accepted what is poised to be a historic midterm defeat — a much-feared “blue wave” that had begun to sweep across the country.

“Massacre”, Rep. Marc Amodei (R-Nev.), who is retiring, said in an interview.

The extent of the collapse became clear shortly after the election closed: Republicans lost a seat in the South Carolina Senate for the first time in nearly 30 years. Democrats have been hot on the heels of incumbents in Florida’s red districts. And the man in charge of the party’s re-election effort in the House was in serious danger of losing his own seat.
