While Midterms coverage was moved to Tuesday nights on the CW, NXT was moved to Wednesdays this week. This gave WWE another opportunity to “counter-program” AEW, whose annual Blood & Guts show is scheduled for Dynamite tonight (November 4).
Heading into the final AEW/NXT face-off, we knew John Cena, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Chad Gable, Rey Fenix, Dragon Lee, UFC’s Michael Chandler and likely 946’s Royce Keys and Cruz Montana would be at the WWE Performance Center this week. NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan has also been booked for a defense against a MYSTERY OPPONENT, who appears to be another Raw or SmackDown star.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reports (behind the Insider’s Elite paywall) that a former WWE Divas and AEW Women’s Champion has been spotted in Orlando. Johnson doesn’t connect this wrestler to Jordan’s challenger, but it’s hard not to consider that she was the first to hold the NXT women’s title.
Johnson’s WWE sources, however, confirmed that Paige was “brought in” to NXT.
Do you think Paige will face Kelani Jordan tonight? Or will it be used in the series in a different way, or in a different story? Is it strictly a coincidence that Paige would be the third or fourth former AEW star recruited to NXT?
