FSU contracts with Parker Executive Search reveal cost of searches and timeline for hiring AD

State of Florida will pay Parker Executive Search $175,000 in professional fees to complete its athletic director and head football coach searches, according to signed contracts obtained by Noles247 via a public records request.

The Atlanta-based company will receive $100,000 for the athletic director search and $75,000 for the head coach search. These figures do not include expenses.

FSU Vice President for Finance and Administration Kyle Clark signed both agreements for the university. The athletic director’s contract is dated Oct. 30, the same day as the FSU board of trustees meeting. The head coach’s contract is dated Nov. 2, one day after FSU’s firing. Mike Norvell.

Both letters state that Parker’s standard fee is 30 percent of the first year’s total cash compensation, with a minimum of $60,000. FSU instead agreed to a flat fee. Each is billed “in three equal installments at the start of the research and 30 and 60 days thereafter.”

Parker estimates his personal expenses at no more than 10% of each charge. Advertising, background investigations, committee interviews, travel expenses and candidate travel are not included in this figure and will be billed separately with the documentation. The final bill will exceed the $175,000 lump sum since FSU will also reimburse Parker’s expenses. If FSU changes the search or asks Parker to “restart or expand” it, Parker is entitled to an additional fee that will be negotiated in advance.
