PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A 10-year-old West Philadelphia girl who was missing for more than a week has been found dead in New Jersey, sources tell Action News.
The body of Jalayshia Allford, 10, was found in a car at the Stonington Court Apartments in Lindenwold, Camden County, overnight, sources said.
No further details were immediately available.

Jalayshia was last seen Oct. 26 at a home in the 500 block of North Simpson Street, where she lived with her foster family.
Investigators reportedly looked into conflicting accounts from adults related to the case.
Police have previously said the child “may be at particular risk of harm or injury.”

Jalayshia’s biological father, Nazir Allford, told Action News on Wednesday that he was struggling to cope with the uncertainty surrounding his daughter’s fate.
“All I care about is my child. I don’t care about anything else,” he said.
Other biological family members said Wednesday they were grappling with a lack of answers.
“It’s really, really painful not knowing,” said Nyfisha Allford, Jalayshia’s aunt.

Family members expressed concern for Jalayshia and her father. Court records show he previously pleaded guilty to charges related to child custody interference. Those close to him said he wanted what was best for his daughter.
“He loved his daughter. His daughter loved him. We vouch for that as a family because we know that,” said Nafis Horne, Jalayshia’s uncle.
Nazir says he dedicated his life to gaining custody of his daughter after she entered the foster care system a few years ago.
Family members called on Jalayshia’s adoptive parent to speak out.
“I really wish you could come out, talk to the news, talk to someone. Let us know what’s going on,” Nyfisha Allford said.
