‘Treated as mere props’ – Benin reportedly refused jerseys, photos and revenue sharing after Argentina match

The behind-the-scenes tensions were highlighted by investigative journalist Romain Molina on his X account.

Describing a series of severe constraints imposed on the visiting camp by the host federation and the event organizers, Molina wrote: “The ‘respect’ of the Argentine Federation (and the players) towards Benin: no bonuses, not a single cent returned from the revenue generated, no jerseys exchanged, not a photo, and ban on entering the Argentine corridor!

“Everything is done on the backs of those who are treated as mere accessories.”
