A Ryanair flight traveling from Rome to Lisbon has been placed on security alert after an anonymous phone call to the control tower at Rome Fiumicino airport warned of a possible explosive device on board, according to reports.

The plane landed at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport shortly before 8 a.m. Authorities are investigating the threat, but there has been no confirmation of the presence of explosives on board.

Separately, the French Prime Minister’s office declared four new bomb threats on Friday morning concerning “planes flying over French territory.”

“The planes landed safely. The security services are carrying out inspections,” said the Prime Minister’s office, while specifying that “an investigation is underway to determine the origin of these alerts, which affect all of Europe.”

Regarding the Rome-Lisbon flight, CNN Portugal reported that the Portuguese Public Security Police (PSP) received a phone call from a person described as a “law enforcement officer”, warning them of a possible explosive device on board. The identity of the caller would have been verified by the Judicial Police (PJ).

Contacted by Euronews, Lisbon Airport forwarded its requests to the PSP, which has not yet confirmed the reported incident. Euronews also tried to contact the PJ but did not receive a response.

Another bomb threat was reported on a Wizz Air flight from Prague to Rome. The plane was diverted to Venice, where it landed.

These latest incidents follow a wave of bomb threats which affected at least 25 flights across Europe on Thursday. EU officials said it was too early to determine whether the incidents were linked.
