New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson was recently hospitalized after “an unexpected and unusual medical emergency.”
In a statement released Friday, Henderson said he was hospitalized for several days after experiencing “neurological symptoms” that led him to undergo comprehensive medical examinations that were “positive and reassuring,” although the root cause of the problem is “unknown and inexplicable.”
Henderson’s statement said his symptoms affected his “strength, coordination and some of my physical functions.”
There is no indication when Henderson might return to football activities.
The Patriots’ official injury report listed Henderson as DNP in their first two practices this week, Wednesday and Thursday, due to illness. He also missed their last two practices before Week 8 for the same reason.
Head coach Mike Vrabel hasn’t given much insight into the situation with Henderson after he appeared on the injury report last week.
After missing Week 1 with an ankle injury, Henderson played in six straight games for the Patriots. His usage had declined in his last three games when he was on the field for a total of 41 offensive snaps.
A second-round pick in the 2025 draft, Henderson led the Patriots in rushing attempts (180), rushing yards (911) and rushing touchdowns (nine). He helped New England win the AFC East for the first time since 2019 and reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2018 season.
New England has won four of its last five games and will host the Green Bay Packers at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.
