GLOUCESTER TWP., NJ (WPVI) — An armed suspect was shot and killed during a police-involved incident Friday at a CVS store in Gloucester Township, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
The shooting happened in the 700 block of College Drive around 4:45 p.m. The suspect was taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.
Authorities described the shooting as non-fatal, but did not provide additional information on the suspect’s condition.
No police officers were injured.
The prosecutor’s office said it could not provide further details to protect the integrity of the investigation.
Police blocked off the CVS pharmacy with crime scene tape while authorities investigated the shooting.
A witness told Action News she stopped at a nearby Dunkin’ before picking up her children from school when she heard what she thought was one or two gunshots.
“I decided to stop at Dunkin’ before picking up my kids from school, and as soon as I got there and was about to go to the drive-thru, all you heard was the gunshots and then everyone ran away frantically,” she said. “Everything came to me at once. I just had to get out of there.”
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
