‘James Bond’ search adds Rob Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult to the mix

After weeks of wondering who might be in the mystery James Bond screen test, Deadline has not only found out who the actor is, but another suitor has also been added to the mix.

While unconfirmed, insiders tell Deadline that Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult joined Jack Lowden, Josh O’Connor and Callum Turner in recent screen tests to play the next 007. Although it was recently reported that four actors were tested, insiders say a fifth test was added at the 11th hour (although it’s unclear which actor that latest addition was).

Deadline hinted at the identities of the potential suitors earlier this afternoon, with confirmations coming this evening:

The process to find the next 007 dates back to the spring, when the studio announced that casting director Nina Gold was joining the project and the search was underway. After two months of meetings, Deadline announced that the first round of hearings would take place in August; Since then, the studio, producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman and director Denis Villeneuve have narrowed the list down to its final group and developed test offers in September.

The final tests were originally scheduled for early October, but due to scheduling conflicts with the finalists, they were pushed back to the end of the month so that they could take place around the same time. Although unconfirmed, sources say the group consisted of no more than five actors, with Turner and O’Connor among the others who would end up being tested.

It’s unclear when the decision will be made, although most believe it will come by the end of the month and potentially before Thanksgiving. Stay tuned.
