A 21-year-old man reported missing early Sunday was identified as the person who died after police responded to a medical distress call under the Howe Avenue bridge later that morning in Sacramento.
The Sacramento County coroner identified him as Frankie Larios and said the cause of death was undetermined. Police said KCRA 3 officers responded to a report of a missing person near the 7500 block of La Riviera Drive before 3:10 a.m.
Larios was a Sacramento State student who disappeared after “a night of Halloween fun,” according to a GoFundMe post from his San Diego-based family who said they believed his death was a “tragic accident.”
The family described him as “patient, kind, funny, reliable, caring and hardworking.”
“Frankie loved the simple things in life,” the post reads. “He loved animals, video games, music and spending time with his girlfriend, family and friends. He also enjoyed his work at In-N-Out, where he was a hardworking and valued member of the team.”
KCRA 3 has reached out to Sacramento State for comment.
The Sacramento Police Department said officers responded to the call for medical help before 6:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Howe Avenue.
Despite rescue efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said the incident was being treated as a death investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the police department at 916-808-5471.
