Packers list three questionable, rule out five against Patriots

GREEN BAY – The Packers have listed cornerback Keisean Nixon (groin) and running backs MarShawn Lloyd (knee) and Chris Brooks (ankle) as questionable for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

Green Bay also ruled out five: linebacker Zaire Franklin (shin), guard/tackle Travis Glover (knee), center Sean Rhyan (ankle), tight end Josh Whyle (concussion) and edge rusher Micah Parsons (knee).

The Packers opened the practice window to Parsons (physically unable to perform) and Brooks (injured reserve) on Wednesday, giving the team 21 days to activate both players to their 53-man roster.

Brooks had 94 yards on 18 touches in the first four games before suffering an ankle injury in Tampa Bay. The third-year running back is expected to be added to the active roster in order to play Sunday.

Nixon and Lloyd appeared on the injury report during the week of practice. Nixon did not practice Thursday but returned on a limited basis Friday. He has played in 76 consecutive regular season games since signing with the Packers in 2022.

“It’s always concerning when a guy doesn’t practice on a Thursday, but if I know Kei like I do, I would expect him to put himself in position to potentially go play,” head coach Matt LaFleur said Friday morning.

Although Rhyan has been ruled out, LaFleur told reporters Thursday that he doesn’t expect Green Bay’s starting center to go on IR. Rhyan hasn’t practiced since he injured his ankle four times during the Packers’ Week 7 game at Detroit.

Receiver Christian Watson (ribs), guard Aaron Banks (knee) and safety Javon Bullard (personal) were not given game status and will be available Sunday.

Watson suffered a broken rib in the Packers’ 27-19 win over Carolina, but returned to finish the game. He wore protective padding while training at limited capacity this week.

“We have a good plan in place,” Watson said Wednesday. “Obviously it’ll have pads and stuff on it, but that’s just what it is. It’s one of those things that will probably be a little awkward, but you know, you can still play.”

New England ruled out receiver AJ Brown (ankle/knee), running back TreVeyon Henderson (illness) and listed seven issues: tight end Hunter Henry (foot), cornerback Carlton Davis (neck), safety Kevin Byard (chest), receiver Mack Hollins (injured calf/reserve), tackle Morgan Moses (foot), safety Brenden Schooler (hamstring) and guard Greg Van Roten (hamstrings/IR).

The Patriots have not released game statuses for the following players who will be available: quarterback Drake Maye (right shoulder), cornerback Marcus Jones (foot), defensive tackle Christian Barmore (illness) and linebackers Gabe Jacas (knee) and Dre’Mont Jones (shoulder/knee).
