The White House took aim at late-night host Jimmy Kimmel on Friday, saying his brain had “rotted” after the comedian called on President Donald Trump to “resign.”

“Jimmy Kimmel’s case of Trump Derangement Syndrome is so advanced that it has completely rotted his peanut-sized brain,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital.

“He’s much more entertaining when he’s being made fun of than when he’s being made fun of, but unfortunately his real talent lies in his poor grades,” Ingle added. “This statement took more brain cells to write than the average Jimmy Kimmel joke.”

The response follows a series of Trump-focused monologues from Kimmel after the midterm elections, with the ABC host celebrating what he described as a Democratic “blue wave” on Tuesday.

During his monologue Wednesday night, Kimmel called on Trump to resign and rejected the president’s assertion that Republicans would have fared better if he had been on the ballot.

“It’s really bullshit,” Kimmel said. “You were on the ballot. You’re like dog hair. You’re on everything. You’ve infected every nook and cranny of our lives. You’ve divided this country like no one has ever divided it before. The only time you brought us together was yesterday, when we all came together to get rid of you!”

Kimmel also called the president “Nappy Gilmore” while showing Trump appearing to sleep during a White House meeting, before urging him to “resign.”

“Stop already, stop. Nobody wants you. Even you don’t want to be president anymore. Take this billion dollars in crypto, buy an island. Maybe Epstein’s island? Wouldn’t that be a perfect ending to this story!” Kimmel added.

Later in the show, Kimmel responded to a statement Ingle provided to Fox News Digital earlier in the week after the election, in which the spokesperson called the host “a talentless loser who bragged about himself with declining ratings.”

That earlier White House statement added that Kimmel is “so devoid of any real talent that no one with common sense would ever look at him unless it was to make fun of him.”

“That’s kind of the point of the show, but apparently I put myself out there again,” Kimmel said, acknowledging his show’s statement and referring to Ingle as “Danny Dingle.”

“The last thing I want to do is tell you how to do your job, Danny Dingle, but today seems like a bad day for you to call me a loser,” the host added.

In response to Kimmel’s post-election coverage earlier in the week, media commentator and editor-in-chief of Hollywood in Toto, Christian Toto, suggested that the host’s relationship with ABC could be facing increasing financial pressure.

“Jimmy Kimmel has long since traded comedy for activism. He’s a DNC apparatchik, he advances the party’s arguments and occasionally proves wise along the way. This week’s response to the midterm elections is nothing new,” Toto told Fox News Digital on Wednesday.

“What’s new, however, is the tightrope he’s walking with ABC. The network wants significant budget cuts to keep the show afloat. The two sides will likely find a compromise, because, for ABC, the show’s propaganda goals trump financial concerns. But for how long?” Toto added.
