Samsung’s Android XR smart glasses arrive in December, pre-orders November 12

Samsung’s upcoming Android XR glasses, made in partnership with Google alongside fashion houses Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, have been revealed throughout the year, and the company will sneak into the 2026 release cycle with a mid-December launch.

Each brand has been quiet about upcoming smart glasses in recent months, but Warby Parker now says pre-orders will open on November 12. Unfortunately, we still don’t know how much they will cost, but they should arrive next month.

“We expect a fairly robust pre-order period before then and then a significant increase in production and sales in 2027,” Dave Gilboa, co-founder and co-CEO of Warby Parker, said during an earnings conference call this week.

Warby Parker also plans to offer eyewear demonstrations in 65 of its U.S. stores, although it has not yet specified in which locations. It then plans to roll out device demonstrations to 360 sites in the coming weeks to help generate interest.

PCMag got some hands-on time with a pair of Warby Parker smart glasses “in progress” at Google I/O earlier this year. Most of the demo was audio-only, but in our brief test, access to Gemini seemed to be one of the biggest selling points.

It’s unclear if Samsung plans to share more details ahead of launch or if we’ll have to wait until November 12 to find out everything the glasses can do. Details on the Gentle Monster version are also scarce.

Criticism of smart glasses has grown in recent months with increasing reports of privacy violations, leading some to dub the technology “evil glasses.” Many public places around the world, such as courtrooms and bars, have chosen to ban this technology altogether.
