The Summer Days (JDE) of your party The Ecologists will be held from August 20 to 22 in Grenoble. Why come back to this city which has already hosted this event in 2022?
“Simply because we liked it (laughs)! Every year, we launch a call for applications, our friends from Grenoble have applied again… Grenoble was the first of the large cities to go green in 2014, and it still remains so today. It is always a source of pride to be in places where real ecological policies have been carried out and continue to be carried out. »
Laurence Ruffin, new mayor of Grenoble, is not yet a member of Les Écologues…
“I have known Laurence for many years, she is a convinced environmentalist, you don’t need to be involved to be part of the environmentalist family.”
Last year, you had some disagreements with former mayor Eric Piolle, who was a very brief spokesperson for the party. Have things calmed down? Are you going to cross paths during these JDEs?
“Nothing personal. For my part, I have never spoken about it publicly and I do not intend to start today. And yes, we will cross paths during these JDE and even before. Obviously ! »
“Why should I stop being a candidate? Because I’m a woman? Because I’m an environmentalist? Because we would be the only ones seeking the general interest? »
In the Sunday Tribune, you announced that you had written a letter to left-wing partners to call for unity before the presidential election. For what ?
“Because a start is necessary and urgent to avoid the arrival of the National Rally in power in 2027. Each of the left-wing parties holds part of the solution. We only have a few months left to build a unifying dynamic, before positions become rigid, before the logic of the apparatus prevails over the general interest. The Ecologists already presented their project in July. It’s on the table, like others. We are ready for shared work and we ask our partners if they are also ready while offering each of them a bilateral meeting.”
You are no longer a candidate for candidacy, then?
“Why should I stop being one? Because I’m a woman? Because I’m an environmentalist? Because we would be the only ones seeking the general interest? We propose a method to find a solution. It’s up to our partners to take advantage of it. But I would like to remind you that our movement has set itself three objectives unanimously shared among us: to prevent the extreme right from coming to power, to help the left and the environmentalists win and to put ecology at the heart of the campaign. It is against these objectives that we will make our future decisions. »
Except that the polls give the advantage to Jean-Luc Mélenchon…
“I am not in the habit of commenting on the relevance of polls. I’m just saying that no one on the left can win the presidential election alone. We can resign ourselves to this chronicle of an announced defeat which so despairs our electorate or we can look for solutions. We will always be on the side of solutions. »
So the JDE will be focused on the presidential election and not on the ecological emergency?
“The two questions are very linked and the French are well aware of this. If the left and environmentalists do not win in 2027, it will be the climate opponents who win and continue to turn a blind eye to a world that is dying out.”
You were particularly harsh with the Paris Match photo where we see Emmanuel Macron on his jet-ski on vacation in Brégançon…
“Posting on a polluting jet-ski for leisure while flexing your muscles, while our forests are still burning, while families are bereaved, while traders and farmers have lost everything, and while our fellow citizens are suffering in apartments that are unlivable because they are unsuitable, it’s just indecent. If the president wanted to show his strength, all he had to do was go help the firefighters.”
