Stellar Blade Nintendo Switch 2 technical analysis, including frame rate and resolution

Stellar Blade arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 this week, and thanks to Digital Foundry we have various technical details regarding frame rate, resolution and more.

Stellar Blade is one of the first console games to use frame generation, which is one of the things discussed here. We also have information on changes and discounts compared to the PS5 version.

Here is the full overview of the information:

– Switch 2 removes environmental details compared to PS5
– Pop-in is also more of a concern
– On certain levels, the reductions are less apparent
– Details are reduced more aggressively in larger scale shots
– Lighting reductions also
– DLSS used on Switch 2 for a more stable presentation than PS5
– Docked Switch 2 resolution is around 540p internally
– Uses default FSR3 frame generation on switch 2 to bring the input from 30 FPS to 60 FPS
– Crawl is generally better at reaching and maintaining 60 FPS during healthy periods
– This doesn’t happen as often during fights and cutscenes with dropped frames
– Prolonged drops don’t happen too often
– With image generation disabled, the game looks basically the same
– When disabled, internal docked resolution is approximately 648p
– You will get a frame rate of around 35-45 FPS without this option
– Portable resolution is around 360p internally
– Performance is similar with handheld and docked modes
– In handheld mode with frame generation disabled, VRR helps with frame rate
