Phil Collins says there’s only one thing stopping him from going back on tour – and it’s not his health.

In August he said Program that he had musical projects, complete and unfinished, that he could concentrate on if he wanted. He added that the health problems that plagued him in recent years were in the past and he felt in an “A1” state.

In an interview with the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, ahead of his induction as a solo artist on November 14, Collins said: “When you’ve been on stage your whole life and you’ve had a taste of that, it’s hard to stop. I never exactly say never. Every once in a while I think about, well, going back on the road.

“You can’t do this kind of thing just for half a dozen shows, because it’s not financially practical. I think from time to time that I’m not done. But when I think about the practicalities, I think being inducted into the Hall of Fame is a nice way to end this – a period on a nice sentence.

“I’m now back where I think I could do it. But I’m thinking, ‘Yeah, I’m going to enjoy the sun, I’m not sweating, I don’t have to do anything.’ I just stand up and say, “What am I going to do today?”

He lays out the alternative argument: “I have a totally working studio downstairs in the basement of my house, and I keep thinking, ‘I should go for it. I have ideas. I have things that I’ve finished. I have things that I’m half-finished. So who knows?’
