Pierce Brosnan is throwing his two cents into the conversation about who should be cast as the next James Bond, almost 25 years after he last played the iconic character.
During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the 73-year-old actor said he was following the audience as an “audience member,” adding that he was just as “excited” as everyone else “to see who is going to play this epic role in cinema history.” However, he sent a special thank you to an actor.
“All the men who are now on the list are actors I admire,” he said. “Callum, Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong. They all have a voice and a physique and a presence in films. They all have longevity as actors, all these young men.”
Although he’s unsure who will take on the iconic role next, Brosnan wishes whoever is chosen “the best in life, strength and courage.”

FORMER BOND GIRL SAYS THE NEXT 007 SHOULD BE “ANOTHER GORGEOUS MAN” AS JAMES BOND’S DECISION
Brosnan first appeared as Agent 007 in the 1995 film “GoldenEye,” after taking over from Timothy Dalton. He appeared in his last Bond film in 2002 with the release of “Die Another Day”, and was replaced by Daniel Craig in the 2006 film, “Casino Royale”.
Craig starred as James Bond in six films, before hanging up his badge following the release of ‘No Time to Die’ in 2021.

“You know, it’s hard to say who it will be, but I’m looking forward to the news and celebration of the next James Bond,” Brosnan said.
In addition to a new actor playing Bond, the film also welcomes a new director in Denis Villeneuve, who will take over the franchise, which Brosnan is excited about.

“I think we’re going to be blown away. Really. (Villeneuve) is such an iconoclastic director. His work is visionary, and his discretion and imagination in camerawork and storytelling is so visceral and sensual,” he said. “It’s going to be great. It’s going to be really beautiful.”
When speaking with GQ about the mental and physical strain of playing the character in September 2022, he casually explained, “You get chipped, you get nicked, you pull muscles, you get stitched up.”

He also spoke to the outlet about his own approach to the role of James Bond, saying he “tried to draw a line between Roger (Moore) and Sean Connery,” who played the role before him, and “wasn’t shy about cashing in on their work.”
“I allowed myself to try to recapture the sense of humor that both men brought to this role,” he said.
