Talk about a foot fetish.
Alexander Skarsgård is well known for his fearlessness when it comes to fashion, and his latest promotional tour is already off to a great start.
The actor, 50, hit the red carpet at the “Wicker” premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on Thursday in an eye-catching all-gold Saint Laurent suit and bizarre shoes.
While his shirtless gold suit would have been the star of the show on any other carpet, it was the completely see-through plastic shoes, also by Saint Laurent, that divided fans.
The cheeky shoes first made waves when they debuted on the runway in June, with Skarsgård being the first man to bravely show his toes in the style.
Fans were divided, with some praising the frontman for his courage. Others questioned his sanity.
“He can pull off anything,” said one fan while another said: “He can carry ANYTHING.”
Others said: “New ick unlocked 🤢.” » Former “Summer House” star Paige DeSorbo wasn’t interested. “We have to draw a line somewhere,” she said.
More agree that the Swede begs for a response, good or bad, to his clothing choices. “Alex likes to get reactions,” one said while another wrote: “I swear he doesn’t care about us. He’ll wear anything.”
This isn’t Skarsgård’s first foray into the avant-garde. For “Pillion,” in which he played a leather daddy, he wore all kinds of clothes, including leather pants, short shorts, delicate sequin tops and more.
And, in 2025, he was one of many Hollywood leading men to wear another pair of Saint Laurent shoes: leather over-the-knee boots.
Saint Laurent ambassador Connor Storrie recently sweated it out on the same show where Skarsgård’s shoes were first shown, wearing a PVC trench coat and vinyl thigh-high boots from the brand — on the hottest day ever in Paris, no less.
The “True Blood” actor appeared to be staying cool in London in the warmer weather, although fans were concerned about the risk of sweat buildup and condensation.
“You wouldn’t even be able to see my toes it would be so wet,” one user joked while another wrote: “OMG these shoes must stink from the plastic and sweat.”
Skarsgård plays a magical wicker man who marries a fisherwoman (Olivia Coleman) in the steamy and hilarious film, which hits theaters October 23.
