The original Apple TV 4K from 2017 has just been added to Apple’s list of “vintage” products. Here’s what that means.
Original Apple TV 4K is “vintage” and may have reduced repair availability

If you’re still using the first Apple TV 4K model, launched almost a decade ago, product repairs may soon become more complicated.
That’s because, as spotted MacRumorsThe original Apple TV 4K was marked “vintage” by Apple.
The company maintains a list of vintage and obsolete products here on its website.
- “Vintage” means that more than five years have passed since a product was no longer available for sale.
- “Outdated” means that more than seven years have passed since sales stopped.
If your product is marked “obsolete,” Apple will no longer offer hardware service or repair.
If it’s a “vintage” model, Apple can still repair it in most cases. However, this depends on parts availability.
So if you have an original Apple TV 4K and may need to get it repaired, you’ll want to do so as soon as possible. Or, you can check out the new Apple TV 4K that will be revealed next Tuesday at the “Welcome Home” event.
