Waves pounded Southern California’s south-facing beaches Friday, flooding communities as Tropical Storm Rachel approaches the West Coast.
In Long Beach, waves broke a bulkhead, flooding nearby homes and streets, according to the Long Beach Post and videos posted online. The wall and wooden boardwalk are the homes’ last line of defense.
