UNC football injury report: Two starters questionable vs. Pitt, several others questionable

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — North Carolina could be without several key contributors when it faces No. 25 Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium Saturday at noon.

Defensive lineman Jaylen Harvey and offensive tackle Jordan Room were both listed as questionable in the Tar Heels’ Friday availability report, released per ACC policy.

Besides Harvey and Hall, the starters Isaiah Johnson, Jordan Shipp And Leroy Jackson were all listed as questionable. In the meantime, Peyton Waters was upgraded to probable after being listed as questionable in Wednesday and Thursday’s reports.

The most notable developments from Friday’s report involve Harvey and Hall, who were both listed as questionable on Wednesday and Thursday before being downgraded to questionable on Friday.

In four games, Harvey has recorded five tackles for loss – second-most for the UNC defense – and two sacks, making his potential absence significant for the Tar Heels.

Along the offensive line, Hall started Carolina’s first three games at left tackle before missing last weekend’s loss to Notre Dame and now appears to be in danger of missing his second straight game.

In addition to these developments, Shipp and Jackson appeared on UNC’s injury report for the first time Friday, with both listed as questionable. The potential absence of either would be a huge blow to the Tar Heels.

Through four games, Shipp leads UNC in receptions and receiving yards, making 20 catches for 273 yards. On the defensive front, Jackson has started all four games and leads all Tar Heel defensive linemen with 23 tackles – third most on the team.

Johnson, who has been an anchor along the Tar Heels’ defensive line, left early in last weekend’s loss to Notre Dame and was listed as questionable in all three of UNC’s availability reports this week.

The good news for the Tar Heels, amid their lengthy injury report, comes in the form of Waters, who was upgraded to probable on Friday after being listed as questionable on Wednesday and Thursday. The Washington transfer has started all four games for UNC this season, seeing action at both safety and cornerback while totaling 15 tackles and one pass breakup.
