Journey’s Neal Schon provided an update on the health of drummer Deen Castronovo, a day after Castronovo suffered an unspecified medical emergency during the band’s concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Thursday night.
“Update! Deen is doing great!” Schon wrote on Facebook. “He can’t wait to see you in San Antonio, Texas! Come help him get back! Your prayers really worked. God bless.”
No further explanation for what happened to Castronovo has yet been revealed. A representative of the group offered this explanation to Variety: “(Deen) wasn’t feeling well after two songs and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.”
Castronovo was helped off stage after just two songs and taken to hospital. Longtime Journey drum tech Steve Toomey filled in for the rest of the Thursday night show at the BOK Center.
“We’ll see what happens as this progresses,” keyboardist/guitarist Jonathan Cain explained (via Tulsa World). “It’s an unfortunate situation. We’re very sorry. We hope it’s just a delay, but please, I’m sorry. Don’t worry. Get your prayers ready. Get your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everyone. Thank you.”
