President Donald Trump reacted angrily after missing out on the Nobel Peace Prize, disparaging the winner and calling the decision an “indelible stain” on Norway.
Speaking at a rally in Syracuse, New York, on Friday evening, Trump described the winner of this year’s prestigious prize, prominent jurist and former UN human rights chief Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, as a “mysterious person” he had never heard of, and said: “We will not forget, Norway, that you did not give this prize.” He followed up with social media posts on Friday and Saturday criticizing the awards committee’s decision.
