“It is important that our wonderful first responders, law enforcement and others focus on this storm, and in no way think about the safety or presence of the President of the United States, ME!” Trump wrote on Social truth.
Earlier in the week, Trump told reporters he still planned to go to the game, despite the impending storm.
“I love Alabama. I have to go to a game like this,” he told reporters Wednesday, while adding that he would consider changing his plans “in case of emergency.”
There had been speculation that the match could be postponed or moved because of Isaias, but organizers said it would be played as scheduled.
According to the most recent forecasts, Isaias will likely be downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it reaches Tuscaloosa on Saturday. The core of the storm is expected to have moved north of the city by the time the game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Instead of traveling to Alabama, Trump said he would hold a rally in Tennessee on Saturday to support the state’s Republican candidates for House, Senate and governor.
