Those who understand something about “MaPrimeRénov’” raise their finger! Unless you have gone to Polytechnique, it’s not easy to find your way around. Bad news for those who thought they had mastered the subject: the award criteria will change on September 1st. And the overall envelope has an unfortunate tendency to diminish. Which does not suit individuals and even less that of craftsmen. It is certain, however, that all-electric will be the big winner from this modification: not stupid, since the gas price will increase further in the coming days. Apart from this relative good news, the scissors are severe. In its defense, the government believes that aid must be concentrated on the most effective arrangements. So, what about the insulation of roofs, attics and windows? So much work previously considered essential, but today removed from the list.
Everyone will understand that these restrictions reflect the poor financial health of the State. But isn’t that a poor calculation?
A climate that is panicking
After the worrying summer we have just experienced, the need to save energy, pollute less and protect ourselves from excessive heat is more essential than ever. Excess mortality, illnesses, loss of productivity (to speak the language of decision-makers): all elements which enter into the overall balance of a society which takes care, in the long term, of its citizens… and its accounts.
In short, it is becoming urgent to renovate MaPrimeRénov’. To make it something other than an illegible device, planed according to budget cuts: a real policy of adapting housing to the climate which is panicking. A renovation from top to bottom in short. And why not, here’s an idea for those aspiring to the Élysée: invest in houses today rather than paying the bill for heatwaves tomorrow. This is an electoral bonus that would make sense…
