Russia: fire in the port of Ust-Luga after a drone attack
A fire broke out in the important Russian port of Ust-Luga, on the Gulf of Finland, targeted by a drone attack, the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, announced on Tuesday.
“Damage was noted in the Ust-Luga port area as a result of the drone attack, and a fire is underway,” Alexander Drozdenko wrote on Telegram, adding that “efforts to repel the attack continue.”
This port, a major infrastructure for Russian fertilizer, oil and coal exports, has been the target of repeated Ukrainian drone attacks in recent months.
Drones heading towards Moscow shot down
In Russia, the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, declared on the night of Monday to Tuesday that more than a dozen drones were shot down as they were heading towards the capital.
In the Russian region of Samara, where large oil refineries are located, an air attack damaged civilian sites, the local governor wrote on Telegram.
A future visit to Ukraine by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner
A few hours before the strikes in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that he had had a “detailed and constructive” telephone conversation with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, emissaries of American President Donald Trump. Both sides are working to finalize the schedule for a visit to Ukraine by Witkoff and Kushner, he added in a Telegram message.

A “massive” missile and drone attack killed at least four people in kyiv and its region, Ukrainian authorities said Tuesday morning.
Earlier in the night, AFP journalists heard around ten consecutive loud explosions and saw flashes in the sky over the Ukrainian capital, after a ballistic missile alert issued by the army.
“Three people were killed in the enemy attack on the capital” and five others injured, the military administration of the city of kyiv reported on Telegram, without immediate details.
According to Tymour Tkatchenko, head of the military administration of the kyiv region surrounding the capital, the Russian army carried out “a massive attack with missiles and combat drones” and “deliberately targeted civilian installations and residential buildings”.
“One person was killed” and another injured in the attack on a business in Boryspil, east of kyiv, the official reported. In the same city, a strike damaged a five-story apartment building and injured eight people, including a child.
