Former Chongqing Mayor Huang Qifan under investigation for corruption

The official Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday that the Communist Party Central Commission for Discipline Inspection was investigating Huang for alleged serious violations of discipline and law, a euphemism for corruption.
Huang, 74, served as mayor of the southwest municipality from 2010 to 2016, overseeing an economic boom while navigating political scandals that brought down two of his former superiors, Bo Xilai And Sun Zhengcai.

Bo, ousted in 2012, and Sun, ousted in 2017, were both members of the Politburo at the time they found themselves under a cloud of corruption.
