The highest-rated recruit in Florida State’s 2026 signing class, cornerback Chuck Kennonis no longer part of the Seminoles program.
Kennon was removed from the team’s official roster and a university spokesperson confirmed Tuesday that he was fired for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
As a rookie, Kennon was considered one of the top 10 cornerbacks in the country. He was also ranked among the top 100 overall recruits. He signed with FSU over offers from Georgia, Florida, Miami and several other programs.
Florida State defensive coordinator Tony White said earlier this year that Kennon had the potential to work his way into the defensive rotation as a rookie, but he wasn’t dressed for games early in the year and then played just one snap against Virginia.
FSU cornerbacks coach Blue Adams was also very high on Kennon during preseason camp.
“He’s young, he’s energetic,” Adams said. “Sometimes you have to tell him, ‘Hey, focus. We’re going in this direction.’ But he is coachable. That’s what I like about him.
