Ukraine received ‘no warning’ of latest Russian ballistic missile strike on kyiv – POLITICO

kyiv typically receives information about impending Russian missiles through the Battlespace Command and Control Center system, which is operated and controlled by the U.S. military and NATO members, among others.

However, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha told the Warsaw Security Forum on Tuesday that intelligence sharing through the platform was ongoing.

“They (the Americans) told the Ukrainians that no warning was issued due to bad weather conditions, which is not considered a sufficient reason in kyiv. So many are increasingly concerned that this may not have been the case,” an official familiar with the matter told POLITICO on condition of anonymity.

The missile warning system has malfunctioned before. “Sometimes this information does not come. This is not the first time… If there were specific technical problems this time, I think the specialists will sort them out. And they will resolve this problem together with our partners,” Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yurii Ignat said on Tuesday.

The United States reportedly once again threatened to reduce intelligence sharing last week if Kyiv does not stop hitting Russian oil refineries. Zelensky did not publicly confirm this threat, but backed down.

“Ukraine has not carried out strikes against Russian oil refineries or the energy sector in general for two days since the US president announced an energy ceasefire. But Russia has ignored the US president,” Zelensky said, calling on the US to lead the peace negotiations.
