Five weeks into the 2026 NFL season, three teams remain undefeated and three teams have yet to record a victory. I’m not sure many people imagined the Vikings would be 5-0 or the Chargers would be 0-5, but here we are. Every NFL season brings surprises – it’s basically the key to this league’s popularity – and Week 5 certainly brought some unexpected developments, including a few inexplicable finishes.
So how does the league hierarchy change after a week full of road wins? That’s the work in these parts, and it’s work that requires looking at every situation on a micro and macro level before ultimately making decisions with conviction. A bit like managing a football match. We’ve seen some head coaches fail at this endeavor in recent days. I hope I do better here.
