The Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team has plenty to celebrate Sunday night.
GB&I won the 51st Walker Cup on Sunday at Lahinch in Ireland, capping off an improbable, come-from-behind victory to stun the Americans and win for the first time in more than a decade. The team’s celebration started at the Lahinch clubhouse in the evening and then moved into town at a local bar, where Ian Poulter was a part of the celebration.

Poulter’s son, Luke, won his Sunday Singles match and is one of the best amateurs in the world. He walked with Luke for every hole of the past two Walker Cups, last year at Cypress Point and this year at Lahinch. He was one of the first people to celebrate with his son after the match concluded.
“Absolutely thrilling,” he told Golf Channel’s Steve Burkowski on Sunday night. “As a dad, as a fan, as someone who loves golf and has been part of golf, that was truly special.”
Poulter took over a microphone inside the Lahinch bar where the team was celebrating Sunday night, telling the crowd it was an open bar and drinks were on him. Then he had one more announcement.

“I’ve just got one thing to say to you all,” he yells at the crowd. “Ole, Ole ole ole.”
The chant drowns out any other noise at the bar, and the camera pans to GB&I players celebrating with each other and their families after an epic day.
Not a bad way to cap the night on a historic day for GB&I.
