Accomplice of OJ Simpson: the story of the Fat Joe podcast highlights Joseph Ippolito

Thirty-one years after OJ Simpson was acquitted of murder, new developments arise regarding the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. A new New York Times The report examines the possibility that Simpson could have had an accomplice if he had committed the alleged crime. And a random anecdote from New York rapper Fat Joe might reinforce the theory.

In 2007, Simpson published the book If I Did It: Confessions of the Killerin which he details what might have happened the night of the murders. In the book, he talks about an accomplice who may have contributed to the crime. Although no major credence has been given to any complicit theory in the past, New York TimesThe report outlines the possibility of this theory and that the LAPD took this theory seriously.

One of the names and possible accomplices that came up throughout their investigation was Joseph Ippolito – “a mob associate, serial criminal, prison escapee” who was also friends with Simpson, who later died in 2006. During their investigation, Ippolito’s brother Sam told the New York Times that he was sure Joey was with Simpson the night of the murders because he came home with blood on his hands. In a follow-up interview, the brother said he would only do paid interviews from now on. As it is against the New York TimesDue to ethics, the journalists handling the case said they would not abide by this statement and the brother later retracted his statement.

An uncovered podcast interview with Fat Joe corroborates the possibility that Ippolito contributed to the murders, although his casual remarks and hearsay seem like a chaotic contribution to the evidence.

“So, I have a friend, right? He passed away. We called him Joe Bentley because he owned so many Bentleys,” he began explaining in an August 2025 episode of the series. Joe and Jada Podcastthe podcast he hosts with Jadakiss and comedian Aries Spears. Big Joe continued:

So the man tells me that when OJ Simpson was in the Bronco, he was at the airport with the soldier and OJ Simpson is his man, right? He was the one waiting for her. The man who tells me all this bullshit! I couldn’t believe it!

So one day it’s his wife’s birthday. His wife’s name is Nicole. So he’s like, “Yo, we’re having his birthday party at my other house” where Trump lives, in Palm Beach or something. I’m going with the Terror Squad. It’s me, Rémy, Pistol Pete. We go there and OJ Simpson is in the house.

He then talks about how Remy, Pete and Simpson were smoking blunts. “When they came down to cut the cake. Happy birthday Nicole. Joe Bentley puts the machete in OJ’s hand and says you did it, n****. You did it. And OJ starts chasing him around the house with the fucking knife,” Joe continued. He then asked Jadakiss and Spears: “Who would be the 2025 Olympic Simpson?”

Fat Joe and Ippolito’s widow both declined to comment New York Times. However, Malcolm LaVergne, executor of Simpson’s estate, shared a statement with TMZsaying that we must put an end to all this to give some peace to the families and loved ones of the victims.
