“Respectfully, anyone can get it,” Lone’er Kavanagh said after his stunning victory over Ramazan Temirov.
He may look like a polite English gentleman, but Kavanagh is a scary guy. This is a scary guy who just landed an uppercut from hell on the chin of another scary guy who many would have said was even scarier before their fight in Abu Dhabi.
The flyweight division is absolutely stacked. Listening to Kavanagh’s words for a moment, there are so many incredible fights that could be fought. If Joshua Van wins against Manel Kape in January, could the Englishman get a title shot?
It may be a little early, but after this performance, the calm, the maturity, there must be a chance. And you know what? Temirov might have been a little overzealous, but he didn’t look bad in this fight. He made some nice shots, and this incessant aggression must be an absolute nightmare to deal with.
My main overriding point? WHO WANTS TO FIGHT ONE OF THESE GUYS? PEOPLE WILL BE BEATED. Hmm.
Dana may not be interested in flyweight, but the current crop deserves recognition for their consistent excellence.
