Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Vivienne becomes fourth child to drop father’s last name

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Vivienne has made a major change to her name.

The 18-year-old legally changed her name from “Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt” to “Vivienne Marcheline Jolie,” according to court documents obtained and reviewed by Weekly Entertainment. Vivienne’s new name was approved Monday, November 2, by a judge at the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles.

According to the documents, there were no objections to the name change. Vivienne initially requested that her name be changed shortly after she turned 18 in July. The reason for the change was listed as “personal.”

Pitt and Jolie are also parents to Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne’s twin brother, Knox.

Vivienne previously distanced herself from her father by name when she and her mother produced the Tony-winning series. The strangers in 2024, where her name was listed as Vivienne Jolie in the poster.

Vivienne is the last of the actors’ children to change their last name to reflect that of the actor. Girl, interrupted that of the stars.

Vivienne’s sister Zahara changed her name, also dropping Pitt from her last name, becoming Zahara Marley Jolie in late September after initially filing in June and using that name when graduating from Spelman College in May.

Maddox’s application to become Maddox Chivan Jolie was approved two weeks before Zahara’s, although he was already called Maddox Jolie when he was the third assistant director on Angelina’s film, Sewing.

In May 2024, Shiloh became the first of Mr. and Mrs. Smith The star’s children asked to change their name after she turned 18. The documents were approved in August of the same year.

Although Vivienne’s twin brother Knox has yet to legally change his name, he has reportedly removed the name Pitt from his high school diploma.

Pitt and Jolie met in 2003 on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. After nine years together, the former couple got engaged in April 2012. They tied the knot in an intimate wedding in August 2014.

Just over two years later, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016 after an allegedly heated confrontation on an international flight, citing irreconcilable differences and requested physical custody of their six children as well as visitation for Pitt. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024 after eight years of litigation.

A source told PEOPLE in September that 10 years after Jolie filed for divorce, “there’s very little communication right now” between the two. Ocean 11 the actor and his six children, adding: “It’s a tragedy.”
