Apple lists unreleased iPad mini accessories ahead of rumored launch

While Apple is rumored to be preparing to introduce an OLED iPad mini later this month, an oversight on the company’s French site may have just confirmed the product’s existence. Here are the details.

Next-gen iPad mini will likely get a new Smart Folio

As spotted by MacRumorsApple’s French regulatory site currently lists a Smart Folio for iPad mini with model number A3632, which does not match any existing product.

The regulatory document is dated September 8, 2026, although it’s unclear when Apple actually added the listing to its website.

Compared to the Smart Folio for iPad mini (6th generation), whose regulatory document is dated December 22, 2022, the new accessory presents some notable differences.

According to Apple’s documentation, the new Smart Folio contains at least 3% recycled materials, compared to a minimum of 9% in the current model. It also contains at least 6,610 milligrams of rare earth elements, up from 3,947 milligrams in the previous version, which could indicate changes in the magnets used to attach the case to the iPad.

While these numbers don’t reveal anything specific about the accessory’s design, the fact that Apple has given it a new model number suggests that changes could be coming.

For context, the sixth and seventh generation iPad mini models are compatible with the same Smart Folio, so a new accessory could indicate that the next model will feature physical changes that will affect case compatibility.

The next-generation iPad mini is rumored to feature an OLED display, Apple’s A20 Pro chip, thinner bezels, a relocated front-facing camera, and a redesigned speaker system. Bloomberg also reported that Apple was working on a more water-resistant design, while recent rumors suggest the device could cost significantly more than its predecessor.

There are currently conflicting reports as to whether the new iPad mini will retain a 60Hz refresh rate or support 120Hz ProMotion.

While previous reports had left the possibility of ProMotion open, leakereyes1122 recently reiterated that the device would be limited to a 60Hz OLED display.

According to BloombergAccording to Mark Gurman, Apple actually tested both options, but he was unable to confirm which one the company ultimately chose.
