Apple Store withdrawal for iPhone Duo begins to resume but very limited

The ability to reserve an iPhone Duo for collection at the Apple Store is starting to return to Apple’s online store, with the system back up and running in countries including Australia, China, Japan and South Korea. Unfortunately, our spot check revealed extremely limited availability at the moment, with few to no time slots available for all configurations.

We only managed to find one iPhone Duo available for collection at the Apple Store in Australia on Saturday at the time of our check, as shown in the screenshot below, but it was already gone by the time we published this story.

In other countries, such as the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Singapore, Apple’s online store continues to advise customers to return on Saturday, October 24 regarding Apple Store removal. We therefore expect the reservation system to resume in other countries as the clock moves to Saturday time zone by time zone.

Just hours after pre-orders for the iPhone Duo began last Friday, Apple said demand for the device was “simply extraordinary,” with delivery estimates extending through the end of January. So it’s no surprise that Apple Store pickup locations are hard to find right now. Apple said it was working to meet demand “as quickly as possible.”

Pickup from the Apple Store was briefly offered a few minutes after iPhone Duo pre-orders began last Friday, but the option quickly disappeared.

Given the scarcity, long queues formed at many Apple Stores across the world today, with some lucky customers managing to score an iPhone Duo without an appointment. If you haven’t been so lucky, the Apple Store’s pickup tool may be your best option, so keep an eye on the iPhone Duo order page over the next few days and refresh it often.
