An athletic trainer at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, police said Wednesday.
Police arrested Kelvin Chiu, 31, on suspicion of annoying or assaulting a minor, production or possession of child pornography and sexual assault.
According to investigators, on October 8, shortly before 7:30 p.m., a report of sexual assault occurred at Archbishop Mitty High School, a private Catholic school in San Jose.
Police said a 16-year-old girl said the suspect, a school athletic trainer, was treating a sports-related injury she suffered when he allegedly sexually assaulted her and recorded it on his phone.
A search warrant was then issued for the suspect’s home and vehicles. The suspect was located in Fremont on Friday and detectives allegedly found child sex material on his phone.
The school administration has been informed and is fully cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
Due to the suspect’s position of trust, detectives believe there may be additional alleged victims. Anyone with information about these cases is asked to contact Detective Camarillo and Detective Widmer by email at 4576@sanjoseca.gov and 4581@sanjoseca.gov, or by calling 408-277-4102.
