Ben Johnson: Cole Kmet’s knee injury doesn’t look good

Bears tight end Cole Kmet appears to have suffered a very serious injury during Thursday night’s win over the Patriots.

Coach Ben Johnson said after the game that nothing would be definitively diagnosed until Friday, but early indications were that it was a serious injury.

“We’ll know more tomorrow, but I don’t think it looks very good,” Johnson said.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams said it hurts to see a player who means so much to him be taken off the field.

“It was tough. I don’t know exactly what it is, but getting kicked out is never good. You’re going to miss some time at least. I don’t have the words to describe what Cole means to me, to this team, to this organization. He’s the oldest Bear, I think,” Williams said. “He’s been through this and it’s a challenge. It’s tough. I’ll be there with him every step of the way, no matter what the injury is. Cole has been there for me every step of the way, through freshman year, through sophomore year, and now through this year. I could only do the same for him.”
