Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson reportedly secretly broke up last year, but are still “committed to their business partnership.”

North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick and his girlfriend Jordon Hudson split in late 2025, according to a report from TMZ. People also confirmed the report.

The details of the breakup are unclear, including who initiated it, but it was apparently amicable enough that TMZ claims they were told the two remained “committed to their business partnerships and remain close friends.”

There has been no public indication that the high-profile relationship has ended, as Hudson has remained on the UNC sidelines during games this year. Her most recent Instagram post, dated May 2, shows the two holding hands at the Kentucky Derby, with the caption “This isn’t the first time we’ve walked in the mud together.”

The alleged rift was apparently not well known, as two people within the UNC football office told USA Today they were unaware of it after it was reported.

Belichick, 73, and Hudson first met on a flight in 2021 and went public with their relationship in 2024, while the six-time Super Bowl winner spent the season without a coach.

In May 2025, The New York Times reported that Hudson had told at least one person that she and Belichick were engaged. The relationship reportedly ended months later, although Hudson continued to work alongside Belichick primarily as a brand manager.

Initial reactions to Belichick and Hudson’s relationship in 2024 ranged from shock to amusement over the nearly five-decade age gap — Hudson was born in 2001, a few months before Belichick’s first Super Bowl-winning season with the New England Patriots.

Hudson’s role in Belichick’s professional life first came under scrutiny in April 2025 when she briefly interrupted a Belichick interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” after the coach was asked about how the two met. Belichick defended Hudson following the interview and said she is “just doing her job to make sure the interview stays on track.”

Belichick was doing the interview to promote his book, but CBS said no topics were off-limits in the discussion.

Shortly after the CBS interview was published, North Carolina denied a report from the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast that Hudson had been banned from North Carolina football facilities. In its statement, UNC said Hudson was “welcome to the Carolina Football facility” and would “continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick’s personal brand.”

It was widely reported that Hudson never had an official role at UNC, instead working as director of Belichick’s own business operations.

That management extended to the now-shelved documentary series that would follow North Carolina during its tumultuous 2025 season. The Hulu series was shelved after North Carolina failed to beat a power conference opponent in the first half of the season. The series’ contracts specified that Belichick could stop production at any time by withdrawing his consent to cooperate, and Hudson signed one as COO of TCE Rights Management LLC regarding Belichick’s own likeness rights.

Hudson didn’t receive as much publicity in 2026, which was a more successful season for UNC with seven games. The school’s record is 4-3, which includes Belichick’s first win against No. 25 Pitt.

The Tar Heels play No. 1 Miami on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC).
